Learn plenty of foreign but don’t forget your own
Objective: To activate lexical material on the topic , improve communication skills of
 listening, reading and analysis of text; mastering the language means to implement 
foreign  language communication ; organize and synthesize the knowledge of students 
about the  poet and artist Taras Shevchenko , his life and career , the importance of his 
work to unite Ukrainian , raising national consciousness. Teach students to work in a 
group and in pairs. Develop speech skills , critical thinking and creativity of students 
the ability to apply knowledge in practice. Cultivate a positive attitude of students to
 learn English,  the interest to expand their knowledge, achieve success every situation 
accomplice in the creative process and its maximum fulfillment.
Equipment : computer, multimedia presentation, cards with tasks.

І. Introduction
1. Greeting. Reporting aims of the lesson.
          T. Good morning! I’m glad to see you here. How do you feel?  I’m sure you are ready for active work.
          We study English and thanks to it we learn a lot about other countries, their people, history, traditions and culture. We can get a lot of knowledge thanks to English. To be a real personality and citizen of the world each of us should remember our own origin, nation and language. The motto of our today’s lesson is  Taras Shevchenko’s words  “Learn plenty of foreign, but don’t forget your own”. And  today at our lesson we’re going to speak about Ukrainian literature and famous Ukrainian  writers and poets.

Let’s start with the poetry of T. Shevchenko, who was true genius of Ukrainian Literature. The poetry of Taras Shevchenko was always been melodious and some of his works were set to music.
            The words Shevchenko and Ukraine are indivistible. Every country has its customs, traditions, symbols, its history and prominent people. But the works, written by T. G. Shevchenko are well-known all over the world. Since old times the beauty of the Dnieper and its picturesque banks has attracted lots of travelers. It was extolled in folk songs and legends. The river Dnieper captivated the heart of the great poet. When T. G. Shevchenko travelled about Ukraine. An English and Ukrainian  versions of «Реве та стогне Дніпр широкий» will be read by our pupils.
                             The wide Dnipro roars and moans,
                             An angry wind howls aloft.
                             It bends the tall willows down,
                             Lifting waves as high as mountains.
                             Реве та стогне Дніпр широкий,
                             Сердитий вітер завива,
                             Додолу верби гне високі,
                             Горами хвилю підійма.
            T. G. Shevchenko dreamt of a house near Kaniv. He wanted to live there in his last years. But his dream didn’t come true. Long before his death he wrote of it in his testament.

So that the fields, the boundless steppes,
